FAQ

What size of dropper post will fit my bike?

Every rider is different, with different frames and rider inseams, etc. Your best bet is to use our Dropper Post Length Selector. You will need: Your current ride height, the distance from the top of the seat post collar to the middle of your saddle rails. Maximum Frame Insertion measurement. You can find this by inserting a rigid post or tape measure into your frame until it hits an obstruction. Simply plug those into the calculator and we'll give you our recommendation of dropper length based on those measurements.

How regularly should I service my dropper post?

We recommend you do an upper bushing clean-and-grease every 25hrs of riding, a full clean and grease service every 75-100hrs of riding, and a full rebuild every 250-350hrs of riding.

Will this post be compatible with my existing dropper remote?

Most likely, yes.

If your dropper remote is cable clamping (has a bolt to clamp the cable) then yes, it is compatible with our dropper. If your remote does not have a cable clamp bolt, you can purchase the Dropper cable/nut kit. It comes with a cable bushing that can clamp a cable. With this you can set up any none cable clamping remote.

Are the seat clamps compatible with oval carbon rails?

Yes, our seat clamps are fully compatible with 7x9mm & 7x10mm carbon seat rails.

The actuator, inside the post, doesn't line up front to back?

The orientation of the actuator is dependant on the threads in the lower tube. This means the actuator orientation, once tightened up, is arbitrary and different on every post. The actuator orientation cannot be changed without rotating the lower tube on the guide pins.

Why is my post slow to extend when I actuate it?

There can be a few different reasons for slow dropper extension. The first checks should always be:

  1. Check seat collar is torqued no higher than 5Nm.
  2. Check the cable tension is correct and the cable is not kinked, binding or sluggish.
  3. Check the upper bushing is properly greased and there is no evidence of excessive wear.

If your posts continues to extend slowly then please email us at support@oneupcomponents.com and we will help resolve your situation.

Do you sell replacement upper or lower tubes?

We do not have upper and lower tubes available as single items.

What grease should I use to service my post?

OneUp droppers should be serviced using a light suspension grease. All droppers come with a small packet of Slickoleum, but any light suspension grease will do the trick. We do not recommend any lubes, including fork boost on our droppers.

What's the minimum weight required to compress the V3 dropper?

A minimum rider weight of 50lbs is required to fully compress the post.
Make sure to apply force to the nose of your saddle, if you're close to that minimum!

V3 dropper

"The OneUp v3 dropper in an absolute masterpiece! The lightest, infinite adjust adjustable, trapper Seat post available, hands-down, the smoothest acting! And FAST AF Boi!!!"

Nathan B. (5/5)

OneUp dropper post popular for a reason

"Great Dropper post at a great price. Installed easily on my 2023 Orbea Rise. Just works well right out of the box and stays consistent. Push down and rise up pressures are just right. No wonder many riders can't wait to change out the droppers on new bikes to the OneUp right away."

Steven W. (5/5)

Good Dropper With Light Actuation

"I appreciate the light force needed to get the post to drop as well as the low stack height. However there is a bit of a gritty sensation in the lever, even with brand new cable + housing but that's just me being nitpicky."

Maximilian Z. (4/5)

This Post Rules Them All

"This is the best dropper post I have used. Install was very clean with the secure cable attachment. The low stack height is helpful with cable fit/routing on my Hightower V4, which has a very sharp turn. I love the pop up, and the clean retraction. Straight forward and secure interface with the seat."

Garth H. (5/5)

Operation is smooth. Install was

"Operation is smooth. Install was straightforward. Took a couple hours, but the adapter for my brakes installed easily and works well."

Tommy C. (5/5)

Dropper post is legit

"Got a 200mm travel version for my 2017 Santa Cruz Hightower and it fit with room to spare. Almost wish I’d gone for more travel. Great deal for a full kit with dropper + lever assembly + cable kit. Having 200mm of seat post travel is a game changer. Feels solid."

Michael C. (5/5)

I'd Drop That

"Awesome post and way better than my old Reverb. There are some great YouTube videos to watch to help with the install. Very easy to install yourself so save your money."

Brent M. (5/5)

Quality engineering and great value.

"I have waited and looked around for a dropper post and decided on the V3 from OneUp. Decision was based on 1) feedback from other riders 2) value 3) engineering/quality of product 4) options and easy tool to configure the right size post for my bike Been happy so far with the post and will probably buy more for a few more bikes in my stable."

Lap B. (5/5)

Workhorse

"Third OneUp dropper in the fleet (two V3 and one V2). Reliable and servicable. Outside of basic maintenance, these are set it and forget it."

Toby W. (5/5)

Great post

"Great post. Easy install. Upgraded from stock post. Much faster rebound comparatively."

Q&A

I don't have an access hole in my seat tube for the actuator cable. Is it safe to drill a hole in the tube? It's a Cannondale Quick CX frame.
Hey Ron, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  We can't officially recommend drilling a hole into your frame. What I can say is we've seen many customer drill holes into their metal frames to be able to run our posts, and I haven't heard of anyone having issues. Ultimately I'd recommend using your best judgement before doing any modifications. Please let me know if you have questions about this, we're here to help! Cheers,
I bought a v3 30.9/240 dropper recently and it has movement forwards and backwards, feels like it has slop in it. less than a month old. I have an older 210 with almost zero movement. Thank you
HI Kyle, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  I'm sorry to hear that, can you please fill out the warranty form on the website and we'll be able to help you out. Cheers,
Does the dropper post come with a cable or is that sold separately?
Hi Bob, We include the cable and housing with the V3 Remote. The V3 Dropper does not come with a cable or housing. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.  Cheers,
Is there an "official" installation video available online anywhere? Thanks
Hi John, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  We don't have an official video, but there are many excellent ones on YouTube from different creators. We also have the written instructions on the support page of our website. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.  Cheers,
I have a one up v3 dropper post that quit working. I took it off the bike and it slides up and down without the actuator making me believe there is no compression. Is there a fix for this? Is it a warranty issue? Thank you for your help.
Hey John, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  It sounds like perhaps your upper tube/stanchion has come unthreaded from the cartridge. Simply pop the saddle off and use a 5mm hex key to make sure the cartridge is snug in the upper tube. If that doesn't solve things, please fill out our warranty form. Cheers, Tom
